This page will give some useful info on Scorpions. It tells their diets, lifestyles, habits, and feature they are equipped with.
(Home Page) - Scorpions are annoying little pests. But... They are not insects. You may be saying to yourself right now, "What?" but no they are not insects. Scorpions are actually considered to be Arachnids. Arachnids are eight legged creatures like Spiders, ticks and Scorpions. Some Scorpions contain a lethal sting, some only have one thats as potent as a honey bee sting. Although, all stings can be deadly, if you happen to have an allergic reaction to a sting it can very well be fatal. Don't be fooled by even the smallest Scorpion, because they are usually young and will release more venom in a sting then an adult would. (End of Homepage Passage)
If you have ever heard the myth, baby Scorpions are more venomous than adult Scorpions, then think again. They can be more poisonous only because they have a chance of releasing more venom in their sting.
Scorpions feed on insects and sometimes other arachnids. Scorpions can be colored in a variety of light tans to dark browns. Some, like the Emperor Scorpion, can be very large and colored black. They can reach 8 inches in length. While other Scorpions grow only to hit an inch or two in length (Including tail). Scorpions love to feed on Crickets, Cockroaches, and Silverfish. Otherwise, they eat just about any bug they can catch.
Scorpions can easily adapt to a new environment. Most Scorpions are located in deserts but they cannot be seen because they hide under the shade and under rocks/logs. Once it begins to cool down and the sun begins to set, they come out to hunt for food. Scorpions can live without food or water for 4 months. In hibernation, some can live 7 months long without food or water. In our homes, we tend to leave our thermostats at the same 3 degree temperature zone. Say between 76 degrees to 79 degrees. And with no rain or snow, Scorpions can live a very comfortable life in you home. With a Cricket infestation, you are bound to find Scorpions sooner or later. Seeing one Scorpion can mean your entire home is infested with Scorpions. One female Scorpion can give birth to 100 baby Scorpions. Seek Scorpion Control in Phoenix, Arizona today. Some cool facts about Scorpions... The reason they glow under a blacklight is because their exoskeletons have a layer of protein that lights up when shined upon by a black light. Another thing, Scorpion stingers can actually rotate 360 degrees around. Scorpions have 6-12 eyes but are actually very bad seers. They use little hairs on their underbellies to sensethings around them. Scorpions are not defensive, they are hunters so they will go looking for something rather than defend their turf. Unlike Spiders, Scorpions actually consume their prey rather than suck the juices up from inside.
